Shopping Editor reveals first look at La Redoute x Emma Sleep

High street favorite La Redoute has teamed up with sleep experts at Emma to bring you a small collection of top quality bed linen.

Billed as a “capsule collection,” the range includes four solid-colored designs and two patterned designs to suit most bedroom styles. I chose white and navy contrast piping to match my minimalist and natural bedroom. The material is 100% cotton.

Emma uses award-winning sleep technology and Good Housekeeping Institute Not only does it currently hold the top spot for best mattresses, but it also has an impressive score of 94/100 for 4-Seasons duvets. Its original pillow was also voted the best memory foam pillow in terms of breathability by our panel, so we were eager to try out the brand's latest collaboration.

First look: La Redoute x Emma Sleep

As soon as I opened the package, I noticed how soft the sheets were. Despite being 100% cotton, it feels and looks like silk. La Redoute describes this bed linen as a “cotton sateen”, with a super tight weave that creates a super soft feel, and I can vouch for that.

Even after several uses, the sheets retain their soft feel, and the gradual creases that appear with use only enhance the effect (I'm not one to iron bed sheets, but they do have a soft feel to them). If so, you may need to steam it after washing).

The crisp white style I chose maintains its color, with rich navy piping for a luxurious accent. The design looks and feels expensive.

This is not the cheapest of bedding sets. A double duvet, fitted sheet and two pillowcases will set you back £132, which isn't that different from the price of some linen bedding sets (but about half the price of our top-rated products). but This silky cotton seems to have the same benefits as our favorite fine linens.

Its temperature-regulating and moisture-wicking properties are sufficient to rival bedding sets that take much more time, effort, and money to manufacture. Normally, you wouldn't expect this much from cotton.

Having heard of Emma Sleep, my expectations for this bed linen were high, and they were not disappointed. I wish there were a few more designs to choose from, but there's something for everyone, whether you prefer all-white bedding like me or something a little more maximalist.

I am so impressed with the softness of the sheets that I choose them over other high street alternatives in my laundry rack. So it's a little more expensive than a regular cotton set, but you get what you pay for here.
